Basic Actions on the iPad

When you access Costpoint Analytics or Capture Analytics on the Apple® iPad®, their appearance is much the same as on a laptop or desktop computer. However, primarily because of the absence of a mouse, how you interact with the analytics on an iPad differs from how you interact with them on a laptop or desktop computer.

General Interaction

Most interaction with applications on a laptop or desktop computer involve basic mouse actions for which there are iPad equivalents:

Laptop or desktop computer action

iPad action

Click or double-click to select something (list item, tab, and so on) or initiate an action.

Tap

Scroll a list or window.

Swipe

For other actions, such as the right-click with the mouse, the iPad has no corresponding gesture. In most cases, however, alternatives to direct gestures exist for carrying out actions.

Actions That Are Not Available on an iPad

Because there is no equivalent to the mouse pointer on an iPad, you cannot hover over charts to view the precise data point values in data boxes.

Because there is no equivalent to the right-click on an iPad, you cannot display the shortcut menus for charts or tables, or for lists that do not have the Menu icon (Basics_Menu_Icon.png). As a result, the options on those menus are not available on the iPad.
