Security

Purpose

Use the Apply Security option under Security to indicate if you want Capture Analytics to authenticate users and control access to data.

This option applies to all detailed Capture Analytics. If your firm also installs Costpoint Analytics, this option also applies to the Pipeline summary analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Summary.

If you do not apply security, anyone who is able to run Capture Analytics has complete access to the analytics tabs and to all data and options available on those tabs.

This option does not apply to users whose access to Capture Analytics is based on an alternate security field. See Security Based on an Alternate Field: Key Concepts and the related topics.

Costpoint Analytics Security

This setting is for Capture Analytics security only. If your firm also installs Costpoint Analytics, you set this option separately for Costpoint Analytics – Project and Costpoint Analytics – Employee using their configuration applications.

Preparation

Before you activate Capture Analytics security, prepare the Microsoft® Excel files containing user access information and load that information into Capture Analytics. For more information, see Security: Key Concepts and related topics.

Initial Configuration

During implementation, you may want to set Apply Security to No initially while you verify the results of the data load process. Before you make Capture Analytics available to users, however, Deltek strongly recommends that you activate Capture Analytics security.

To activate security for Capture Analytics, select Yes in Apply Security.

Ongoing Administration

After the initial configuration process, this setting requires no ongoing maintenance.

The information used to authenticate users and control access to data, however, requires some maintenance when you add new Capture Analytics users and user groups, and when there are changes to the organizations in GovWin Capture Management.
