Top Projects

The Top Projects table displays an overview of the top project's details. This is a blended view that is broken down by various attributes that you select. Typically, the top projects are those that are the most profitable performers.

The top project information displays by the designated analysis period, and you can select different dashboard filters and analysis periods to adjust as needed. For example, if you want to review a forecast of the year's top ten projects by revenue, you can specify the filter criteria to display these projects over the desired time period. [HOW] The start and end date for the analysis period displays as part of the caption, and updates as you change dates.

The default view for this chart is your entry level organization. You can click and drag any number of organizations from the Organization Hierarchy section to include multiple organizations in the comparison. You can also select from other attributes, including the Project Type, Project Manager, and Customer. The chart continues to update as you add and remove attributes to compare.

Table Item

Description

Blended Profit Amount or Blended Gross Profit Amount

The information that displays (profit or gross profit) depends on the Profit Type setting in User Options.

If a time frame beyond the current period is selected, projections in this column also include the baseline or forecast data. This depends on the Budget Type setting in User Options.

This column sorts in descending order by Organization Level, Project Type, Project Manager, and Customer if the Chart Type is set to Amount.

Blended Profit Margin

The information that displays (profit or gross margin) depends on the Profit Type setting in User Options.

If a time frame beyond the current period is selected, projections in this column also include the baseline or forecast data. This depends on the Budget Type setting in User Options.

This column sorts in descending order by Organization Level, Project Type, Project Manager, and Customer if the Chart Type is set to Amount.

Amount or Margin

Period or Year-to-Date

There are two ways to view revenue: Period and Year-To-Date (YTD). The type of chart impacts the data that displays on the charts.

Period is data for the current analysis period, while YTD provides a cumulative, rolling perspective within a given year. For example, February = January + February, March =  January + February + March, and so on.

Profit defaults to YTD when used initially, but you can switch the chart type at any time.

To switch the type of chart...

  1. Locate the chart type options.

  2. Click Period or YTD. The selected option's button turns green, and the pertinent information on the charts and tables updates to reflect your selection.

User Options That Affect The Table
