After you have begun using Costpoint Analytics, you normally update the project and employee data after each fiscal period ends and complete actual performance data is available for that period in Costpoint. In addition, you may want to load data for the Labor Utilization Analytics on a more frequent schedule as new labor data becomes available in Costpoint. (See Loading_ Labor Utilization Data More Frequently for a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of this approach.)
Before you load new project and employee data, do the following:
In the Costpoint Analytics configuration applications, select the end date of the completed fiscal period in Current Period, and make any other configuration changes that you want. After you make all the configuration entries, make sure you click Save Settings for <Project or Employee> Analytics Data Model Build and that you also click on the QlikView toolbar to save your entries in QlikView.
If necessary, update the budget data files. You may want to add updated forecast amounts, for example.
If necessary, update the proposal attributes file.
For example, you should remove proposals that you won and have now set up as projects in Costpoint, as well as any proposals that you lost. Also add any new proposals that you want to include. (If you add or remove proposals, be sure that you also add or remove budget data for those proposals.)
Finish processing in Costpoint for the fiscal period that you designated as the current period for Costpoint Analytics so that complete actual performance data is available for load.
For the project analytics, this includes generating Project Status Report reporting data for the period.
For the Labor Utilization Analytics, post timesheets in Costpoint to make sure that the latest labor information exists in the Labor History tables in Costpoint.
To load new Costpoint Analytics data, complete the following steps:
On the server on which you installed Costpoint Analytics, go to the <installation location>\Analytics\Admin folder
Run the Full_CpA_Data_Load.bat file.
This process takes some time. When it is completed, Costpoint Analytics displays a message that confirms that the data model has been updated with the current Costpoint data and budget data.
If the row count for the PSR_Final_Data table in Costpoint is more than 50 million, follow the instructions in Procedure: Load Initial Data Using a QlikViewPublisher Task. Using the QlikView Publisher task to load the data can improve performance for large databases.
