To add project manager security information to the Costpoint Analytics data models, you specify the users and related settings in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (CostpointAnalyticsPMSecuritySetup.xlsx) and then load those settings from that file into the data models.
The CostpointAnalyticsPMSecuritySetup.xlsx file is located in the <installation location>\Setup folder.
CostpointAnalyticsPMSecuritySetup.xlsx contains the following worksheets:
PMTabAccess — Use this worksheet to identify the users and specify the Costpoint Analytics tabs to which each user has access.
SpecificPMAccess — Use this worksheet to link users to the project managers for which they have access to project data.
Column |
Description |
PMSecuritySSOUserID |
If you import security data from Costpoint, this column contains the network user IDs of project managers imported from Costpoint. Whether or not you import security from Costpoint, you can add rows yourself, and you can delete a user ID imported from Costpoint if you do not want to provide any access to Costpoint Analytics for that user. If the user is already logged on to your network using this user ID, Costpoint Analytics gives that user access without requiring another log-on procedure. Note: The SpecificPMAccess worksheet also contains network user IDs. It is important that you enter a given network user ID exactly the same in both files, including the use of upper- and lower-case letters. |
AllTabsAccess |
If you want this user to have access to all project analytics tabs in Costpoint Analytics, including the User Options tab, enter Y. If you want to limit the tabs to which they have access, enter N and use the other columns in this worksheet to specify the tabs to which the user has access. Tabs to which a user has no access are not visible to that user in Costpoint Analytics. |
Revenue |
Enter Y to give the user access to the Revenue tab. Enter N to deny access. |
Profit |
Enter Y to give the user access to the Profit tab. Enter N to deny access. |
Backlog |
Enter Y to give the user access to the Backlog tab. Enter N to deny access. |
AR_DSO |
Enter Y to give the user access to the AR and DSO tab. Enter N to deny access. |
PAR |
Enter Y to give the user access to the Projects at Risk tab. Enter N to deny access. |
PROJECTS_AHDD |
Enter Y to give the user access to the Ad Hoc Data Discovery tab. Enter N to deny access. |
UserOptions |
Enter Y to give the user access to the User Options tab. Enter N to deny access. |
Column |
Description |
PM_ID |
If you import security data from Costpoint, this column contains the employee IDs of project managers imported from Costpoint. You can add rows yourself if, for example, you want to give more than one user access to a manager’s project data, and you can also delete rows. Note: All cells in this column must be formatted as Text, and all values in the column, including numeric IDs, must be aligned left. |
PM_Name |
If you import security data from Costpoint, this column contains the names of project managers imported from Costpoint. You can add rows yourself if, for example, you want to give one user access to more than one manager’s project data, and you can also delete rows. |
PMSecuritySSOUserID |
Enter the network user ID of a user to which you want to give access to data for this project manager’s projects. To give a project manager access only to his or her projects, enter his or her employee ID in PM_ID and enter his or her network user ID in this column. To give a program manager who is responsible for several project managers access to all of their projects, enter a row in this worksheet for each of those project managers and enter the program manager’s network user ID in this column for each of those rows. Note: The PMTabAccess worksheet also contains network user IDs. It is important that you enter a given network user ID exactly the same in both files, including the use of upper- and lower-case letters. |
