Use the Apply Security option under Security to indicate if you want Costpoint Analytics – Project to authenticate users and control access to data.
This option applies to all detailed project analytics and to the summary project analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Summary.
If you do not apply security, anyone who is able to run Costpoint Analytics – Project has complete access to the analytics tabs and to all data and options available on those tabs.
You set this option separately for the Labor Utilization Analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Employee Configuration. That setting applies to both the detailed Labor Utilization Analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Employee and the summary Labor Utilization Analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Summary. While you could, for example, select Yes for Costpoint Analytics – Employee and No for Costpoint Analytics – Project, Deltek recommends that you keep them the same.
If you have a Costpoint Analytics SaaS Subscription, it is recommended that you configure the analytics with Apply Security set to No. That configuration gives all authorized users complete access to the analytics tabs and analytics data. Security provided by Deltek Cloud Operations prevents access by any unauthorized users. However, if you find that you need to restrict the access of some authorized users, you can change Apply Security to Yes, and set up security within Costpoint Analytics as described in Security: Key Concepts and related topics.
Before you activate Costpoint Analytics security, prepare the Microsoft Excel files containing user access information and load that information into Costpoint Analytics – Project. For more information, see Security: Key Concepts and related topics.
During implementation, you may want to set Apply Security to No initially while you verify the results of the data load process. Before you make Costpoint Analytics available to users, however, Deltek strongly recommends that you activate Costpoint Analytics security.
To activate security for Costpoint Analytics – Project, select Yes in Apply Security.
After the initial configuration process, this setting requires no ongoing maintenance.
The information used to authenticate users and control access to data, however, requires some maintenance when you add new Costpoint Analytics users and when there are changes to the organizations, user groups, and users in Costpoint.
