Recommendations for Enhancing Data Accuracy

The quality of the data in Capture Analytics depends to a great extent on the data entered for opportunities in GovWin Capture Management. Implementing the recommendations below will increase the accuracy and usefulness of the data that is available for analysis in Capture Analytics. The recommendations focus on the fields most critical to Capture Analytics: Stage, Probability, and the GovWin Capture Management fields that you select as the Pipeline 1 Amount and Pipeline 2 Amount fields in Capture Analytics:

Make Capture Analytics Available to Users

After you install and configure Capture Analytics, you have a number of options for making the analytics available to those who will use them. The following are some possibilities:

The configuration applications and other Capture Analytics administrative tools are always run locally on the Costpoint Analytics server, either through direct access to the server or using a Microsoft® Windows® Remote Desktop Connection.

Capture Analytics SaaS: If you have a Capture Analytics SaaS Subscription, Deltek Customer Care will provide instructions for accessing the analytics.

Integrate Capture Analytics with Microsoft SharePoint®

You can embed any Capture Analytics charts and tables into your SharePoint portals or applications. If your firm uses SharePoint as a center for collaboration, you can locate key Deltek analytics side by side with related information to enhance that collaboration.

The embedded analytics respond dynamically as you interact with them in SharePoint, just as they do when you access them in Capture Analytics. When you select data in an embedded chart or table, other embedded charts or tables that are connected to the same set of analytics are updated automatically to reflect your selection.

Though there is no additional cost, SharePoint integration requires a special license key. If you are interested in this feature, please contact Deltek and request the necessary key.

For more information on this feature, use the following link to download QlikView Web Parts: http://community.qlikview.com/docs/DOC-1792.

Capture Analytics SaaS: If you have a Capture Analytics SaaS Subscription, the SharePoint integration option is not available.

Relationship of CRM_Analytics.QVW to Capture_Analytics.QVW

The primary QlikView file for Capture Analytics that resides in the <installation location>\Analytics\Final folder is CRM_Analytics.qvw. If you want to access the objects and properties on the analytics tabs for Capture Analytics (to implement extensions to the product, for example), that is the file you should open. Other files on the Capture Analytics server that contain “CRM” in the file name are also related to the Capture Analytics product.

However, the data load process renames CRM_Analytics.qvw as Capture_Analytics.qvw when it publishes the file in C:\ProgramData\Deltek\Analytics to make it available to your end users. That way, the QlikView file matches the Capture Analytics product name that the end users see.

Similarly, if you use alternate security, the data load creates user-specific QlikView files from a common source file. The source file, located in the <installation location>\Final folder, is CRM_Analytics_EM.qvw, but the user-specific files created from that file are named Capture_Analytics_EM_<network user ID>.qvw.

Make Capture Analytics Server a Trusted Site

To avoid a variety of problems that can occur due to browser internet/intranet security, all Capture Analytics users, regardless of how they access the product, should add the Capture Analytics server (http://<server name>) to their list of trusted sites on the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog box in Microsoft Internet Explorer®.

Capture Analytics SaaS: If you have a Capture Analytics SaaS Subscription, users should add the Deltek Cloud Operations Web site to their list of trusted sites.

Opportunity Change Tracking and the Search and Replace Utility

The Opportunity Change Tracking process captures changes to the key opportunity fields listed below so that information is available for the Historical Pipeline Analytics in Capture Analytics:

However, if the Search and Replace utility in GovWinCapture Management (Utilities » Advanced Utilities » Search and Replace) is used to change values in one of those fields, the Opportunity Change Tracking process does not detect those changes because that utility, by design, does not initiate the normal GovWinCapture Management workflow processes. As a result, the historical pipeline data in Capture Analytics will not reflect those changes.

Grayed Years on the Current Pipeline Calendar Bar

The calendar bar on the Current Pipeline tab displays years based on the current pipeline analysis dates for all opportunities, not just the opportunities actually in the current pipeline. As a result, the calendar bar could include years that are always grayed because no opportunities in the current pipeline have an analysis date in those years.

To resolve this, a Hide This Year and Earlier option has been added. That option is concealed behind the Opportunity filter list on the Current Pipeline tab. If this problem occurs, open CRM_Analytics.qvw in QlikView, move the Opportunity list to reveal the Hide This Year and Earlier field, and enter the latest year for which no valid current pipeline opportunities exist. That year and all earlier years will be removed from the calendar bar.

Select the year carefully. This option does not filter out those years; it only removes them from the bar. If you mistakenly remove a year for which there is current pipeline, the data reflected in the analytics may be misleading. One approach is to run the data load process to refresh the current pipeline data, and then open the Current Pipeline Analytics with no security restrictions or filters applied. Use the Hide This Year and Earlier option to remove any grayed years prior to the earliest year that has current pipeline data.

QlikView Personal Edition Message

If you do not open any .QVW files on the server using QlikView Desktop for 30 days, your leased server license expires. The next time you try to open a .QVW file, you receive a message indicating that you are using a Personal Edition of QlikView. If that happens, you need to cancel the message and lease a license again using the procedure below.

To lease a QlikView license from the server, complete the following steps:

  1. If the message indicating that you are using a Personal Edition of QlikView is displayed, cancel the message.

  2. Run QlikView Desktop.

  3. Click Open in Server on the File menu.

  4. In the list at the bottom of the Connect to Server dialog box, select any .QVW file.

  5. Click Open.

This leases a license from the server so you can again open .QVW files on the server using QlikView Desktop.

Pop-Up Blockers and Capture Analytics Help

The Capture Analytics help opens in a separate browser window. If a pop-up blocker is active on a user’s computer, the help window may not open. We recommend that all users who use pop-up blockers change the settings for the pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from the Capture Analytics server.

Capture Analytics SaaS: If you have a Capture Analytics SaaS Subscription, users who use pop-up blockers should change the settings for the pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from the Deltek Cloud Operations Web site.
