Using the Help Search
  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Keyboard Shortcuts

You can use keyboard shortcuts in place of many menu and submenu options. The shortcut keys depend on the function you want to perform on an application, table window, or process.

General Usage

Keyboard Shortcut Description
TAB Navigate between interactive items.
SHIFT + TAB Navigate to previous interactive items.
ENTER Trigger an action.

Enter and exit Quick Edit mode.

Expand and collapse interactive grid elements.

ESC Trigger a close event.

Trigger a cancel event in Edit mode.

Up, Down, Left, and Right Arrows Trigger a vertical and horizontal scroll event.
SPACEBAR Select and clear a checkbox.

Exit Quick Edit mode.

Note: The editable field must not accept spaces as values for the SPACEBAR to trigger an exit event.
CTRL + S Trigger a save event in Edit mode.
CTRL + ALT + ? Trigger an Online Help popup.

Dropdown Controls

Keyboard Shortcut Description
TAB Navigate between interactive items.

Select a value from a drop-down menu.

ENTER Expand the drop-down menu.

Trigger an action.

ESC Trigger a close event.
Up, Down, Left, and Right Arrows Expand and collapse the drop-down menu.

Navigate drop-down menu option.

Down Arrow Display drop-down search results.
SHIFT + DELETE Trigger a clear all action in a drop-down search textbox.

SPACEBAR Select and clear a checkbox.

Radio Group Controls

Keyboard Shortcut Description
Up, Down, Left, and Right Arrows Activate radio buttons.

Navigate radio control options.

SPACEBAR Select a radio group option.

Popup Menu

Keyboard Shortcut Description
ENTER Trigger an action.

Trigger the popup menu.

ESC Trigger a close event.
Up and Down Arrows Navigate popup menu options.

Column Selection Dialog

ENTER Move items between grids.

Trigger an action.

Up and Down Arrows Navigate grid controls.
CTRL + Up and CTRL + Down Reorder columns.

CTRL + Left Collapse drop-down options in a search result.

Grid

Keyboard Shortcut Description
ENTER Expand and collapse interactive grid elements.

Set current row to edit mode.

Trigger an action.

Up, Down, Left, and Right Arrows Navigate between grid cells.

Trigger a vertical and horizontal scroll event.

Left and Right Arrows Expand and collapse a parent grid row.
Note: The focus indicator must be on a grid cell with a tree node.
