Risk Drivers Group on the S3 // Risk Tab

Use the commands in this group to perform such tasks as view schedule and cost risk drivers, set the display level, and set display options.

This group only displays when you select Views > Right Panel > Risk Drivers.

Field Description
% Criticality Select this option to display the frequency (as a percentage) at which an activity falls on the critical path.
Criticality is a traditional risk metric reporting how often an activity (or group of activities) falls on the critical path. Criticality indicates how stable the critical path is as a result of risk and uncertainty. While it is a useful measure of critical path stability, it is not a sound measure for which activities most impact risk exposure. For this, use the Cost/Schedule Contribution Factor.

When you select Criticality, the right panel displays summarized results with the values ranging from 0% to 100%. If you select a parent in the grid, the right panel displays the children of the parent up to the number of drivers selected in the Configuration > Show Top NN, including those that are 0% critical and displayed in descending order with the most critical on top.

This option is not available for cost.

Schedule Contribution Select this option to view schedule risk drivers. This option is not available for cost.
Cost Contribution Select this option to view cost risk drivers. This option is not available for schedules.
Activities Select this option to display the result sets by activities.
Risk Events Select this option to display the result sets by risk events.
Display Level Use the slider to specify the level of detail that displays in the Risk Driver view.
Add to Comparison Select this option to add the current risk drivers result set to the risk driver comparison. When you have multiple result sets added, you can use the Right Panel > Risk Driver Comparison view to compare the result sets.
Selecting this option displays the Add to comparison dialog box showing the comparison name you are adding.
Configuration Use these options to specify how you want the risk driver to display.
  • Analysis
    • Risk Exposure at sets the P value (percentage value), which affects the length of the activity. For example, if you calculate risk exposure with a P value of 50, you are stating that you want Acumen to calculate the dates for activities based on a 50% chance of completion. If you set the P value at 80, then Acumen will lengthen those activities until they have an 80% chance of completion.

You can specify a default value on the Risk page of the Acumen Options dialog box.

    • Use relative values displays values in percentage. If you don't select it, the values display in days.
  • Bars
    • Mode allows you to specify whether you want to view by Activities or Events.
    • Detail Level allows you to select Summarize Risk to display a single bar for the activity, Uncertainty and Risk to display the events that push the activity in groups, or Uncertainty and Specified Risk to display all events that are pushing the activity individually.

This option does not display when you select Risk Drivers > % Criticality.

    • Show Top specifies how many of the activities that are driving the schedule should display in the risk drivers chart. Select 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, or All.
    • Activity Labels displays the activity labels.
    • Select Display Event IDs within bars to display the risk event IDs.
    • Select Scroll View to enable vertical scrolling on the Risk Drivers chart so that you can see all drivers and descriptions.
  • Legend
    • Display Legend displays the graph legend or key.
    • Display Event Description displays the event descriptions.
  • Heading
    • When you are viewing the Risk Drivers chart (Views > Right Panel > Risk Drivers), use Display Heading to switch the risk drivers chart heading on or off. Turning the header off allows the chart to fill a greater area of the pane for easier viewing. Acumen remembers your choice and displays it the same way the next time you view the Risk Drivers chart.
