Using Ask Dela

Explore guidelines for optimal usage of Ask Dela in PPMA, including tips for clear communication, leveraging conversational context, and understanding current limitations for effective interaction.

How Conversational Context Works

Ask Dela is designed to understand the flow of your conversation and remember the subject of your questions.

Benefits:

  • Reduced Repetition: Conversation context enables the digital assistant to remember the subject of your initial question. This means you do not need to repeat the same product area, feature, or task in every subsequent question. Because Ask Dela eliminates the need for repetitive input, you can streamline your interactions with the assistant, saving you time and effort.
  • Smoother Interactions: With conversational context, interactions with the digital assistant feel more natural and fluid. You can engage in back-and-forth conversation, similar to how you would communicate with a colleague. Instead of having to provide all the details for each question, you can build upon previous queries seamlessly. This smoother flow of conversation enhances your experience and makes interactions with the assistant more intuitive and user-friendly.

How it works:

  1. Ask your initial question about a specific product area, feature, or task.
  2. The assistant will answer your question and remember the subject for your follow-up questions.
  3. In your next questions, you can refer back to the subject using pronouns or simply ask related questions without needing to repeat the entire name.

For example:

  • You ask: "How do I assign a user to a license in PPM Administrator?"
  • The assistant answers with guidance based on the relevant PPM Administrator product documentation.
  • You can then ask: "What should I do next?" because the assistant remembers the context from your previous question.

Guidelines for Using Ask Dela

To ensure the best experience, follow these guidelines:
  • Be Specific with Questions. Ask clear, detailed questions about product functionality and navigation. Include relevant context so Ask Dela can retrieve precise information.
  • Use PPM terminology. Frame questions using product-specific language and limit inquiries to PPM-related topics.
  • Stay on topic. Stick to product inquiries. Unrelated questions are outside Ask Dela's intended purpose.
  • Verify responses. For critical decisions or data, double-check answers — occasional inaccuracies may occur.
  • Know its scope. Ask Dela may not handle highly complex queries. If a response seems off, try rephrasing or breaking the question into smaller parts.
  • Check your permissions. Make sure your access level aligns with the information you're requesting.
  • Manage conversation context. Ask Dela retains context from only the last ten questions and answers, including the specific record from the most recent response. If responses become irrelevant, clear the conversation history or rephrase your question to reset context.
  • Experiment and adapt. Try different prompt styles based on past interactions to find what works best.
  • Report persistent issues. If inaccuracies recur, report them to Deltek Support Services.

Current Limitations of Ask Dela

While Ask Dela brings significant advancements to your PPMA experience, it is important to be aware of the following limitations:

  • No database access. Ask Dela can only answer questions based on product documentation — it cannot query your live data.
  • Limited conversation memory. Ask Dela keeps the five (5) most recent question-and-answer exchanges word for word. As the conversation continues, Ask Dela keeps the newest messages in full and summarizes earlier ones, helping maintain immediate context and broader conversation history without requiring you to repeat information.
  • No Multilingual Support. US English is the only officially supported language. Other languages may work but is not explicitly supported.
