Projects

This item of the controls the entire Projects form in PM Compass. Disabling it also disables all of the menu options found in Projects such as New, Cost Analysis, and Enter Progress.

When you enable it, all of its children are also enabled by default. You can, however, define the permissions for each item on the Projects menu individually.

In addition, some of the parent items are not really securable options. EPM SA only uses them to group children. For example, the Links menu under Project Form View is only used to group the securable options on the Links tab, and does not indicate that you can disable the tab. Similarly, the Reports » Report Categories option is used to group various categories, and does not refer to a securable option. Thus, selecting either Enabled does not have any effect.

If you do not have access to the Project option, the New option is also disabled. This is because you cannot create a new project if you do not have access to the required fields in the Edit section.

The following items can be found within the Projects menu:
New

Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the New button on the Projects form.

Certain fields either allow users or do not allow them to enter or update information because any project set up in PM Compass is a "PM Compass only" project. This project is not visible in Cobra.

Form View

This item controls the following items:

  • Delete: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Delete Project button to remove a "PM Compass only" project file and the project's fiscal year calendar from the list.
  • Form Designer: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use Form Designer, which helps you customize a form.
  • Links: This item controls the following menu items:
    • New: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the New button to create document links.
    • Associate: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Associate button to associate selected projects with the available links.
    • Remove: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Remove button to remove association of links with selected projects.
Cost Analysis Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Schedule Analysis button to view information, particularly schedule records, for all activities related to a project. This item controls the following menu item:
  • Links: This item controls the following menu items:
    • New: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the New button to create document links.
    • Associate: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Associate button to associate selected projects with the available links.
    • Remove: Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Remove button to remove association of links with selected projects.
Enter Progress Enabling this item allows you to use the Enter Progress button to update either schedule or cost status information.
Approve Progress Enabling this item allows you, as a designated approver, to use the Approve Progress button to view and approve submitted activities, work packages, or control accounts.
MPM Integration Enabling this item allows you use the MPM Integration button to integrate MPM projects into PM Compass. It does not display in PM Compass if Cobra product exists.
