Administration

This item of the Deltek PM Compass hierarchy controls the entire Administration panel in PM Compass.

When you enable this item, all of its child items are also enabled by default. You can, however, define the permissions for each Administration menu item individually.

In addition, some of the parent items are not really securable options. PPM Administrator only uses them to group child items. For example, the Links menu item under Details View of Projects is only used to group the securable options on the Links tab, and does not indicate that you can disable the tab. Similarly, the Report Categories item of Reports is used to group various categories, and does not refer to a securable option. Thus, selecting either Enabled or Disabled does not have any effect.

The following items can be found within the Administration menu:

Print Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Print button to print selected reports.
Schedule Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Schedule button to display the Schedule dialog box.
Email Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Email button to display the Email Report dialog box.
Alerts Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Scheduled Alerts form or the User Initiated Alerts form to add or modify defined alerts.
Data Mining Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Data Mining Processes form to help you evaluate projects using a set of pre-defined criteria.
General Import and Export This item controls the following menu items:
  • Schedule Export — This item controls the following Schedule Export menus:
    • New — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to create a generic export file from schedule data.
    • Delete — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to delete an export configuration.
  • Schedule Import — This item controls the following Schedule Import menus:
    • New — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to create a generic import file.
    • Delete — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to delete an import configuration.
  • Work Authorization Export — This item controls the following menu items of the Work Authorization Export form:
    • New — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to create general information about a configuration file used to export Work Authorization data.
    • Delete — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to delete a configuration file.
Workflow Type Configuration This item controls the following menu items:
  • New — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the New button to create a workflow type.
  • Delete — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use the Delete button to delete an workflow type.
  • General — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the General tab to modify properties of a workflow type.
  • Edit Forms — This item controls the following menu items:
    • Tabs on Form — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to view and/or modify the Tabs on Form tab, which allows you to determine the labels for standard tabs and to add new tabs for the workflow type.
    • Fields on Form — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to view and/or modify the Fields on Form tab, which helps you identify what fields are included in a workflow.
    • Cost Details on Form — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to view and/or modify the Cost Details on Form tab, which displays the values for time-phased data, such as budget.
    • Form Designer — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to use Form Designer, which helps you customize controls on a form according to your preference.
  • Workflow — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the Workflow tab.
  • Scheduling — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the Progress Scheduling tab.
  • Export — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to export a workflow type.
  • Import — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to import a workflow type.
Link Center Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Link Center form, which allows you to associate links to project documents, Web pages, and other files with areas, such as Projects, Control Accounts, Activities, and Workflows.
List Tables Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the List Table Maintenance form, which allows you to add or delete a workflow category.
Process Log Viewer Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Process Log Viewer form, which allows you to view, print, delete, and manage all of the logs generated in PM Compass.
Process Server This item controls the following menu items:
  • Profile Editor — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the Profile Editor form.
  • Process Queue Manager — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the Process Queue Manager form.
  • Process Server Management — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the Process Server Management form.
Project Visibility Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Project Visibility form, which helps you make a project created in Cobra visible in PM Compass.
Report Administration Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access and manage the Process Queue Manager, Profile Editor , and Process Server Management forms.
System Calendar Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the System Calendar form, which allows you to identify non-working days, or calculate due dates for item workflows and alerts.
System Settings Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the System Settings form, which allows you to define searches, search method, Dashboard view or application URL, to set up system reporting, printing preferences or Update Progress feature settings, and to map the Assignee and Approver in the Update Statues feature.
User-Defined Data Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the User-Defined Data form, which allows you to define or modify custom fields, custom tabs, or reference fields, and customize item forms.
User-Field Mapping Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the User-Field Mapping form, which allows you to designate Cobra fields as user fields in the workflow and alerts, and identify other code fields as user fields when data is imported from an external system, such as MPM.
Step Notification Defaults Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Workflow Notification Defaults form, which allows you to create workflow notifications using an email or Dashboard alerts.
Bar Sets Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to access the Bar Sets form, which allows you to select, edit, and create bar sets for a project.
