CONVERT REFERENCE DESIGNATORS FROM LONG TO SHORT

Use this screen to update various tables in order to comply with the use of the reference designator text option in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen.

Use this toolkit whenever you clear the Use Extended Length Reference Designators check box in Configure Bills of Material Settings screen. When you use standard length instead of extended length (or vice versa), the reference designators on the component line of a bill of material are associated with the corresponding reference designator setting. In order to maintain Costpoint's data integrity, they must be converted to the new format.

Costpoint will apply the conversion process to manufacturing bills of material (MBOM) and engineering bills of material (EBOM), if you select the Use Engineering Bills of Material check box is selected in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, since the same reference designator format applies to both BOM types. The conversion process is done first for MBOM assemblies, followed by EBOMs. If EBOMs are not used, only MBOM conversions are done.

This will affect MBOMs (manufacturing bill of materials)and EBOMs (engineering bill of materials)(if applicable).Existing data will be overwritten.
