APPLY MASS COMPONENT CHANGES TO BILLS OF MATERIAL
Use this screen to replace all instances of one component (or subassembly) with another throughout an entire manufacturing bill of material (MBOM) or engineering bill of material (EBOM). You can specify both the source component and the target component provisional part/revision and/or standard part/revision combinations. The Component MBOMs/EBOMs Where-Used subtasks both display a single-level, where-used table that displays the effect of the change and where the components are used.
Choose how the mass change is to be implemented, either by fully replacing the source component part with the target component part, or by replacing the source component part/revision using effective dates. You can also replace out-of-effect components.
You cannot release an assembly if there are unreleased subassemblies for MBOMs or EBOMs in the Component MBOMs/EBOMs Where-Used subtasks, respectively. Unreleased lower-level assemblies must have a BOM Status of Released in the Manage Manufacturing Bills of Material, Release Manufacturing Bills of Material, Manage Engineering Bills of Material, or Release Engineering Bills of Material screen before the higher-level assemblies can be released on a given multi-level MBOM/EBOM.
Use this screen to replace one part with another in existing MBOMs and EBOMs.
Location
Identification
Use the fields in this block to create a new parameter ID or to retrieve
a previously saved parameter ID. A parameter ID represents a set of screen
selection parameters. After you have saved a parameter ID and its related
parameters, you can retrieve them using Query.
You can use the retrieved parameters to produce reports and run processes
more efficiently and with greater consistency. The saved parameters are
also useful and necessary when you want to run the process as part of
a batch job. Many users save a unique set of parameters for each different
way they run a report or process. When you select a previously saved parameter
ID or parameter description, the associated saved screen selection parameters
automatically display as selection defaults. The page setup and print
options are also included in the saved parameter ID if there are any.
You can change any of the associated selection defaults as necessary.
Parameter ID
Enter, or click 
to select, a parameter
ID of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. Choose characters for your parameter
ID that help identify the type of selections you made in the screen, such
as PERIOD or QUARTERLY.
When you save your record, all the selections made in the screen are
stored with the parameter ID. Later, you can retrieve the parameter using
Query.
You can use the parameter to run the process more efficiently because
you can select the parameter ID with its previously defined screen selections.
After the default selections display in the screen, you can override the
defaults.
Description
Enter, or click to select, a parameter
description of up to 30 alphanumeric characters.
Options
Use this group box to customize the mass update with either MBOMs or EBOMs based on the selected component parts.
BOM Type
Use this group box to select which BOM types you want to update.
Engineering
Select this check box to update the EBOMs for the selected component.
This check box is available if the Use Engineering Bills of Material check box is selected in the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen.
Manufacturing
Select this check box to update the MBOMs for the selected component. You can populate the component Part field only with standard parts when you select this check box.
If you select both the Manufacturing and Engineering check boxes, Costpoint will update both MBOMs and EBOMs for the selected component.
Part Lookup Type
Use this drop-down list to specify whether to lookup Standard or Provisional parts in the Part fields.
This field is automatically set to Standard when you select only the Manufacturing check box in the BOM Type group box.
From
The fields in this group box provide details about the component to be modified.
Part
Use this field to enter, or use 
to select, the part ID of the source component part. The component part's description displays in the unlabeled field below.
Rev
Use this field to enter, or use to select, the component part's revision.
Make/Buy
This field displays the M (Make) if the component part is manufacture or B (Buy) if it is purchased.
Part Status
This field displays the release status of the component to be modified. This field displays Provisional for provisional parts.
Part Type
This field displays the component part's type. The various types are:

Part Security
This field is visible only if the Use Part Data Security Controls check box is selected on the Configure Product Definition Settings screen, which indicates that the assembly part is subject to data security restrictions, as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
If enabled, this field displays one of the following values to indicate whether the part you are accessing is subject to part data security restrictions and whether you have the necessary authorization to access information for that part:

Unrestricted — The part is not subject to data security restrictions.

Restricted — The part is subject to data security restrictions and that you are authorized to access detailed part information.
-
***UNAUTHORIZED*** — The part is subject to data security restrictions and you are not authorized to access or view part information. This value is displayed in red background color.
If you are unauthorized to access assembly parts or revisions that are subject to data security restrictions, then you will not be able to create or edit BOMs that contain restricted assembly parts or revisions.

features in this release relating to Part Data Security are intended to
assist your company in achieving ITAR compliance. However, it is each
company’s responsibility to confirm that it is meeting its obligations
with respect to ITAR or other applicable requirements. Deltek does not
warrant that use of this functionality will result in compliance.
Mil-Spec
This field displays the military specification number of the component part.
NSN
This field displays the national stock number of the component part.
CAGE
This field displays the Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code of the component part.

Configuration Options
Use this group box to specify conditions under which the mass component change is to occur.
Completely Replace From Part with To Part
Select this option to replace the source component part with the target component part regardless of whether or not it is still in effect.
Add To Part with the Starting Effectivity Date of
Select this option to add the target component part to the BOM as of the date entered in the adjacent field. The source part will be in the BOM, but is rendered out-of-effect starting on this date.
Replace Out of Effectivity Components
Select this check box, allow the mass change process to affect source component parts that are out of effect.
Copy Existing BOM Text
If you elect not to do a complete replace of the source component with the target component (where the Completely Replace From Part with To Part option is not selected), select this check box to copy the existing BOM text for the source component to the target component.
